Privacy Policy

How we handle information you share when you use our website, booking forms, and related hospital services.

Last updated: August 7, 2026

EFTU General Hospital (“EFTU”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through our public website and staff tools, why we collect it, and how we protect it. It is written for patients, visitors, and website users in Ethiopia and is not a substitute for formal legal advice.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:

  • Booking and visit details — names, phone numbers, email, preferred visit date/time, department or specialist preferences, relationship to a patient, and free-text notes or reasons for visit.
  • Feedback — review text, ratings, and optional display name when you submit a community or specialist review.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, and basic request logs needed to keep the site secure and reliable (for example rate limiting and abuse prevention).
  • Messages to any on-site assistant — if a chat or assistant feature is enabled, text you send may be stored for quality and safety monitoring. Do not share emergency details or highly sensitive medical history in chat; call our emergency line instead.

2. How we use information

  • To process visitor passes and appointment requests.
  • To contact you about your booking status or follow-up questions from reception.
  • To moderate and publish approved testimonials.
  • To operate, secure, and improve our website and staff systems.
  • To respond to legal or regulatory requirements when required by Ethiopian law.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Sharing

Information is accessible to authorized hospital staff (reception, editors, administrators) who need it to do their jobs. We may use trusted service providers (for example email delivery or hosting) under arrangements that require them to protect the data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect patient safety.

4. Retention

Booking and operational records are kept for as long as needed for care coordination, hospital operations, and legal retention needs, then deleted or anonymized according to our internal procedures. Soft-deleted records may remain temporarily recoverable by administrators.

5. Security

We use access controls (role-based staff accounts), secure transport (HTTPS in production), security headers, and operational backups. No online system is perfectly secure; please avoid sending payment card numbers or unnecessary sensitive documents through public forms.

6. Your choices

  • You may request a status update on a booking using your reference number.
  • You may ask us to correct inaccurate contact details you submitted.
  • You may ask questions about how your information is used by contacting us at the address below.

7. Children

Parents or guardians should submit booking information on behalf of minors. Do not include unnecessary sensitive details about a child in public forms beyond what reception needs to schedule care.

8. External links

Our site may link to maps, social media, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are their own; review their policies before sharing information there.

9. Changes

We may update this policy periodically. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the website after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
